RED SOCKS WON!!!!!
(For those of you who don't know, I'm talking about the World Series) Not only did they beat the Yankees who have an enormous amount of money to pay for players, but they haven't won the World Series since 1918, as I'm sure you are all now aware. The bad sports commercials have already started up. Nike has one on about 2 minutes after they won, showing these poor men spend their entire lives watching the Red Socks lose and then when they are like in their 70's to 90's, their team finally wins, and instead of seeing like actual heartfelt emotion from these people, we see
"Just do it" and a nike symbol.
How pathetic.
Another upsetting factor is that two of the guys who used to be on our team got traded to Boston and now they have pretty little rings while our guys are back in the tundra having their field ripped up to make way for a football field.
Oh great... another negative campaign in the background. It's an anti-Kerry ad. I can tell because of the ominous tone that the music took. As in if you vote for him rabid wolves will come out of the woods and EAT you.
Kerry's talking about how he's going to improve the economy when he becomes president. Okey day, first of all, the president has like NO control over the economy, and also, trends don't just appear based on the last month or even years. Most economic trends are in multiple year cycles, so most of what Bush is experiencing could be an effect of the Clinton administration, if you really want to think about it.
Also, because of the great country that we live in, we created our industry separately so that the government wouldn't be able to completely control it. Supposedly, we have a free market system, meaning, in stupid sophomore terms, that the govt. doesn't control us. (Guess I'll learn about that in Econ CIS) Hence the president really doesn't have that much control over who's losing and gaining jobs. So, I really don't want to hear any more about the economy. Sure, people have lost jobs, but sometime in the future, there will be more jobs that people can have, and I realize how bad that sounds, but its just a function of our society.
You can not have a free market system where everyone is guaranteed a job. Our system thrives on competition and if there is no competition for jobs, then our system isn't working. If everyone were guaranteed a job, then they would be lazy and not get their work done because they would know that they would not get fired. Does that make any sense at all? I hope so because I do try. BL. NP.
The Life and Times of Book Girl, Perfectionist
This is about me...Book Girl aka Normal Python. My friend the mad-skill Tatertot set this up for me because she rocks. (ahahaha :0)) Maybe. Well, I can't get rid of that one. I've gotten many more nicknames & now I've changed the template so... This is my blog. A high schooler who feels old. A licensed driver w/ car troubles. If I've updated, you know it's a big deal!!

Ohh.... how I detest school. There isn't a single class that I enjoy save Latin. I keep looking at everything I have to do, and I'm sad. I really don't know about anything anymore. I really don't like anything that I'm doing, and I'm afraid that I never will.
On another note, I never realized how obsessed people are with the election. This will be an election that everyone will remember. It will have an amazingly high voter turnout and it will definitely be close. I think that eventually we'll have a third party that will cater to the middle of the road voters and they will just dominate. For example, if John McCain were to run for president as an independent, I think that he could win. Do I have any proof to back this up? Of course not, but it's interesting to think about. I think that there will soon be a shift in the way that we hold elections. People's views are so conflicted at this point, and the parties are becoming more and more "you either are or you're not" and all of these people have views that they agree with on both sides. Imagine if there were a candidate that you could agree with on most issues. That would be amazing. Sorry. Just another little rant from the girl that you all love. BL. NP.

Let's see. Pick one of the following five answers that best answers the question posed below. If you so feel, use a number two pencil and fill in many, many little ovals that correspond to the correct answer. Be sure to fill in all of the space though because even the slightest pencil mark outside of the oval will cause the problem to be wrong.
1. What is the purpose of the pPSAT?
a) to better prepare you to take the actual SAT
b) to make most sophomores shiver in fear as they read the words "FILL IN MAJOR"
c) to show sophomores just how much they are actually going to have to study before they take their SAT's.
d) To allow most of the kids to fail here, so that they don't fail when it actually matters.
e) To add a little more to the ever growing credit card statement that is known as high school.
(How much do you think that pre-test cost our poor impoverished parents?)
2. What part of the test did NP like the most?
a) Reading Comprehension
b) Writing down your own answer math
c) The fact that kids were late "due to traffic"
d) The part where we filled out the information, which actually took longer than one of the sessions of the test.
e) The bathroom break.
3. What part of the test did NP like the least?
a) The grammar section (who really knows grammar anyways. I know French grammar better than English grammar. Maybe I should take the SAT in french. It would make more sense)
b) The section on parapsychology
c) The math sections where her calculator threatened to shut off.
d) The fact that complete idiots could do as well as her, if they knew how to guess well
e) The section where the air conditioner just randomly shut off. (I need that background drone to help me on tests.)
(extra choice) f) Walking in the rain to take the test because they didn't have room for us at the school.
4. Which major will most of the kids in my class put on their pPSAT?
a) prelaw
b) premed
c) secondary education
d) no idea because I thought that was what parents were for, to give you money
e) wait.... you have to take classes in college??? I thought you just drank lots of liquor and partied!!!
This concludes the first section of NP's revisions to the pPSAT. Please fold up your answer sheet, proceed to the nearest trash can, and throw it out because that is where it will end up anyways. Apparently, this guy at the PSAT office just sits at his desk all day, looks at a name, and shoots an arrow on a dartboard to see what score they will get.
Hmmm... Braniac McGee- 70 %tile
Hock E. Player- 89%ile,
and Will Shakes-Peare- 60%ile (apparently, he didn't know grammar well enough)
But remember folks... It's just the pPSAT. It doesn't really matter...... (or does it? Mwa hahaha) BL. NP.

Um... Let's see.... hello everyone.
The only reason I have time to write is because I'm being lazy and not going to sleep or doing my homework. Homecoming was today. I went and bought expensive school merchandise, although I did my part and decided not to support prom. Big surprise I know.
Then I went and babysat. The kid... or baby I should say (10 months) was absolutely adorable and he was really good too. I gave him a bath and got him all ready for bed and gave him a bottle. He was the most precious thing. My hands still smell like the baby lotion that I put on him. I wish that I could go back to when I was a little baby.
Things were so much simpler. There were no people telling you to worry about where you were going to college or what you were going to be when you grow up. Your biggest problem was seeing mommy and daddy walk out of the house, and being left with some pimply teenage girl who probably spent most of her time talking on the cell phone (hint: This does NOT describe me) I mean, I look at these kids and their days consist of meals and watching movies and bath time and playing outside.
There are many stories that I could regale you with. Little short tidbits that could tell you all about my life, or more specifically, one infinitesimally small moment in my life that defines me at that exact period of time. I could write about driving, and how it has become another routine aspect of my life.
I could talk about how I really relate with the passage where Holden Caulfield's teacher is talking about Holden is going to experience a fall, but he isn't going to know when he's falling or why and then he goes into a quote talking about how "an immature man is one who dies for a cause, while a mature man is one who lives humbly for one." I don't know if this is a problem or not, but I find myself comparing myself to Holden and finding many comparisons, except for that whole teacher student bizarre relationship thing, you probably don't want me to go into details, so I won't, but just think about it, and whether that has any implications for me?
I can't believe a month has already gone by in school. I've survived so far, but there's so much more ahead that I don't even want to think about. Sorry if this post was a bit sad... at least I updated. Any comments/ ideas for future posts? BL. NP.
